Second time lucky for $2 million Powerball winner

30 August 2010

The mystery South Australian winner of last Thursday’s Powerball draw has come forward to claim his second SA Lotteries Division One win in the past five years.

The man from Adelaide’s western suburbs claimed his $2 million prize today, telling SA Lotteries that he had also won a Division One prize of more than $600,000 five years ago.

Even luckier still, the man also claimed an extra $9,000 after winning a second division prize in the same Powerball draw that last week made him a multimillionaire.

“When I was filling out my coupon, I must have played the same set of numbers twice, but chose a different Powerball. A lucky mistake, I guess,” the man told SA Lotteries.

“It’s great to win Division One again. This feels even better than the last time!” he said.

The regular SA Lotteries player has plans to travel overseas after celebrating his win over a few drinks with close friends and family.

The winning 9-game Coupon entry was purchased at Port Mall Lotteries and Newsagency in Port Adelaide.

South Australia’s latest Powerball winner shared last Thursday’s $6 million Division One prize pool with another lucky local and an interstate player.

SA Lotteries’ profits from Powerball are distributed to State hospitals for the benefit of all South Australians.
