Powerball jackpots to $50 million

27 July 2012

With no Division One winners in last night’s Powerball draw, next Thursday’s draw will offer a jackpot prize amount of $50 million.

This is only the third time in the game’s history, and the first time since June 2009, that Powerball has jackpotted to offer a $50 million Division One prize pool.

If only one player wins the $50 million Division One prize pool next Thursday, they will become the second biggest lottery prize winner in the State’s history and the third largest winner in Australian lottery history.

Powerball has produced five of South Australia’s ten largest lottery wins, including a couple from Adelaide’s northern suburbs who won $23.3 million in January 2003, making them the State’s largest ever Powerball winners and the fourth richest lottery winners in SA Lotteries history.

SA Lotteries encourages family members, friends and workmates to form syndicates to enter the draw in the hope that the Division One prize pool will be shared amongst many South Australians.

Players have until 7pm on draw day to purchase their tickets, which are on sale now at more than 570 SA Lotteries agencies throughout the State.

SA Lotteries’ profits from Powerball are distributed to State hospitals for the benefit of all South Australians.
