Megadraw winners claim their $1.4 million fortunes
31 December 2012
South Australia’s two newest millionaires have each claimed their $1,428,571 Division One prizes, won in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto Megadraw.
One of the winners, a woman from Adelaide’s northern suburbs, purchased her entry from Hollywood Newsagent in Salisbury Downs and was still coming to terms with her newfound fortune when she presented the winning ticket at SA Lotteries Head Office today.
“The win hasn’t sunk in as yet,” the surprised woman said.
“Until I work out exactly what to do with the money, I don’t believe that it will,” she said.
“I think that I will start by putting the money towards a holiday and paying off some debts.”
The State’s other Division One winner, who purchased his entry from Adelaide City Central 7 Day Supermarket, also couldn’t believe his luck after he matched all six numbers from Saturday night’s draw.
“I made a spur-of-the-moment decision to buy a ticket, so I couldn’t believe that I’d won,” the man told SA Lotteries.
“I kept on checking my ticket over and over,” he laughed.
“I plan to use some of the money to pay off my mortgage, but I will have to think about what to do with the rest.”
The two South Australians shared the $30 million Saturday X Lotto Megadraw Division One prize pool with 19 interstate players.
