Friends share $1.5 million Powerball prize
11 January 2013
Two friends, who have been playing lotteries together for 12 years, have won South Australia’s first Division One prize for 2013, after scooping $1.5 million in last night’s Powerball draw.
The regular players purchased their winning system entry at Russell’s Newsagency in Elizabeth and, as they registered it on an Easiplay Club membership card, SA Lotteries was able to contact the syndicate manager today to confirm the good news.
“I’m feeling really good right now,” the syndicate manager said when he received the telephone call from SA Lotteries.
“I saw the numbers flash up on the television screen last night, and I knew straight away that they were our numbers,” he said.
“I knew that they were ours because we’ve been playing the same numbers for 12 years!”
Along with the $1.5 million Division One prize, the duo’s system entry also won them $51,317 across other Powerball prize divisions.
The lucky pair shared last night’s $3 million Powerball Division One prize pool with one interstate player.
